Zoja Tukic '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Zoja Tukic and I have been practicing volleyball for 8 years now. Originally from Serbia, I have played club only; my current club being "Radnički Blasters", where I am a setter. Right now, I am on a scholarship exchange program "FLEX", funded by the Departement of State and am currently hosted by an amazing family in Hanford, CA, where I will be spending the year. In my American highschool, Handford West, I play for the school varsity team!

In the States, I have been exposed an enormous amount of new things utilized on the court. From the 6:2 system that I have previously never encountered, to a different way of positioning players on the court, new strategies, new game priorities and most interestingly a drastically different way of coaching. On top of all of that, I was given the oppo position. Understanding and memorising the volleyball vocabulary on English was essential in order to communicate with my teammates on the court. I believe that all of this has helped me grow immensely as a player and right now I can confidently describe myself as coachable, flexible, communicative, ambitious, hardworking and consistent, as those were the characteristics that helped me overcome the challenges thrown at me and helped me adapt fast!

Back home, i was a straight A student (I am working towards achieving the same in the States as well!) and my favorite extracurricular activity was volunteering for the Red Cross, dedicating 100h in my sophomore year and gaining first aid training!
