Update 12/2018. I'm currently a freshman at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm in the nursing program. I play volleyball for Bellarmine, OH/DS. I'm looking to re-locate to a new school closer to "home" which is uncertain at this time based on my parents next military move. I would like to be within 4 hours but I'm willing to consider other offers. Thank you!
I'm a 2018 graduate, OH. I've spent the last 7 years of my life preparing to play volleyball in college. Earlier this year I chose a college based on academics and not volleyball. I was initially ok with my decision not to play, however I've recently had a change of heart. I need to play volleyball! I'm currently working with a strength coach and am preparing for the fall season. I hope there is a team out there that may need an athlete like me. I've had offers prior to my decision not to play, so I am worth consideration and would actually be a last minute "steal" : ). I'm focused, a hard worker, team player, very athletic, drama free, personable, coachable and super eager to play again! I want to study nursing and/or forensics. I also have tuition benefits from my father’s military service.
2018 - Colorado Summit VBC - Denver Crossroads, finished 5th in USA Division/Gold
2017 Rampart High School - Finished 2nd - 5A Colorado Springs
2017 Qualifiers: I will be attending Denver Crossroads 3/10 - 3/12, SoCal JNQ (Las Vegas) 4/7 - 4/9 and Show Me JNQ (Kansas City) 4/21 - 4/23.
Update: At the beginning of the year my approach jump was 9'2".
As of 5/19/2016 it is now 9' 6.5"! Hard work definitely pays off. They can say I'm undersized for an outside hitter, but no one can ever say I'm undetermined, unmotivated, or unable.
My name is Kira Warren, I am currently a junior at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs. I found my passion for the sport in the sixth grade as my mom encouraged me to try out for my middle school team. My love for the game has grown each year I play. Volleyball has taught me responsibility in the areas of academics, being a leader, and pushing through in a situation where others are relying on me.
Growing up as a military kid, volleyball has been a form of stability for me, I can take it with me where ever I go, and I will always have it as my friends come and go. Making my first big move to Colorado Springs was hard for me because I grew up with the same girls for a majority of my life so volleyball made it easier to settle in and make new friends in a new place.
I've often been told that I'm a fast learner and uniquely "coachable". I'm willing to play any position when needed. I work well with my teammates and am always ready to encourage and motivate even when we aren't winning. I maintain a positive attitude on and off the court. I respect my coaches and my teammates and am always a team player, never an individual. I come alive on the court under pressure. Tough teams don't scare me, I just play harder. I'm not afraid of tough coaches, I respect and accept the challenge.
I am open to learning new things to improve my skills and be better than my last game. I will give you 110% in practice and on the court. I practice hard and I train hard. I spend time in the gym to improve my athleticism and I'm ok with not fitting into skinny jeans because my legs are "too big". I'm an athlete and I'm proud of my strength.
I can't wait to play at the collegiate level. I know there is a perfect school for me and a team that needs what I have to offer. I'm that athlete that will work hard, respect you, respect my teammates and give you the best that I have every time I step on the court.
