In eighth grade I learned that my high school offered volleyball as a fall sport and I pursued it. Freshman year was my first year playing and I quickly caught on. Sophomore year I took my volleyball career much more seriously. I pushed myself harder to jump higher, run faster, fix my weaknesses and learn new attacks as a middle hitter. I decided volleyball was something I'd like to play in college and joined an off-season club where I continued to make progress with my ability.
I can jump high despite my average height and have the ability to make smart, fast decisions. I'm able to adjust to situations quickly and I'm aggressive. In my junior year of high school I played as a starter on Varsity through the whole rotation in all 6 positions and played middle hitter when in the front row. I can run 2's, 3's, slides and quicks(1's). I am also a successful blocker at the net and can transition quickly. During the winter i returned to Huskies and played on the National High-Performance team. We came in second or first at most of the tournaments we attended and reached the gold bracket.
I recently finished my last high school season. I was captain of my volleyball team this year and I was given the honor of playing in the All-Star Senior game on November 17th. This past season I returned as a Varsity player and excelled as an outside hitter, using the power of my hits as a lethal weapon against the teams we played. I have increased my passing abilities greatly but I still have plenty of room for improvement. I'd also like to work on keeping the ball in front of me to increase the success and power in my hits. I feel as though I am a well-rounded athlete and an eager, fast learner. It is my dream to play in college and excel as a volleyball player. I only hope to get better as I continue to practice and strengthen myself.
