Ellie Dealy '24 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing volleyball since I was nine years old. Ever since I played recreational level I fell in love with the sport. And my dream has always been to play a college sport. Although, nine-year-old me did not know about the determination and hard work that is needed. After many double practices, long tournaments, and even volleyball zoom meetings, I've made it here making my childhood dream come true. 

I've had many coaches over the years and all of them have commented on my coachable personality and my ability to stay positive even when the score is 6-24. I am always trying to lead by example and encourage my teammates but also push them to be their best selves. Excluding volleyball, I am a part of the basketball team and am trying out lacrosse. I am trying a new sport because I love being a part of a team and I am also known for my athleticism and ability to pick up almost any sport quickly.

In the classroom, I also demonstrate these characteristics. I am a part of many clubs including the prom committee, Link crew, and spirit committee. I also take rigorous classes that push me. I am enrolled in the IB diploma so my next years in high school will be challenging academically. 

Apart from the academics at Wilmington Friends School, I also challenge myself athletically and my goal this summer is to improve my vertical jump by 3 inches!

Overall, I want to pick a school that is both athletically and academically a good fit for me. This will allow me to make positive impacts on my team and also tackle new educational and athletic goals. Above all, I strive to make my family, friends, and coaches proud.
