Leila Johnson '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Leila F. Johnson, I am 17 years old, I’m 5'4".

I have been devoted to volleyball since I was 11. Believe it or not, I did not start out as a Setter, I played Defensive Specialist. We were at a tournament, and our first day was so bad, the HC needed a change and asked if I would try... I have been since, with some time at DS.  I am very competitive, while I had to learn to be outgoing. I was born and raised in Florida. I am attending Palm Beach Gardens High School where we went to the volleyball 7A State Finals 2019. While playing travel club with Palm Beach Junior my 13’s team won the USAV Jr Nationals, 13 National Division and as a 14 we won AAU Nationals 14 Premier Division Tournament. I continue to work hard on my academics with studies directed in the AICE program, I currently have a 4.9 HPA & 3.8GPA and 12 of 625 class rank, I just recently was inducted into the National Honor Society as well as my AICE Diploma (Bright Futures). My hobbies are swimming, volleyball and the beach. I appreciate my family supporting me with whatever I challenge myself with. I put in the extra work and can play either Defensive Specialist or Libero as well as Setter. I understand the need to be flexible. I have a strong desire to be in the medical field.  

I love the sport of volleyball; it has challenged me to be my best both on and off the court. I look forward to taking the next step. If given an opportunity, I know that I will be a great asset to your program.
