Aloha
My name is Dakoda Keni, a graduate of 2023 at Kahuku High and Intermediate School. I am a 5'8" setter for the North Shore Raiders Volleyball Club in Hawaii.
On the court I have been a captain for my high school team, and have also been a captain for my club team. I have been playing club for 5 years now. My club coach is Mona Ah-Hoy and my team's coach is Ho'onani Apo. She has been my coach for the past 2 years. She was my coach for high school volleyball on the JV team, and was my coach for the past 3 years in club. In order for me to play volleyball I need a number for my jersey. The number I have chosen is 27, it's a significant number to me because I was born on October 27, 2005.
Although volleyball is my world I know that I am just one person in thousands that are willing to fight for a spot with a future in volleyball. In the future I plan to play volleyball in college. I am undecided about where I want to go to college but I plan to study Exercise and Sport Science or Kinesiology. In order for me to get into college I can't rely on volleyball souley so I hope to to get an academic scholarship, as well as a volleyball scholarship. I have a 4.1 GPA and am on the track of taking a language, and AP classes. I am a hard worker who enjoys school, and follows the "Student-Athlete" code. I excel in school, and am trying to excel in volleyball. To try prove that I am worthy enough to play volleyball I have to fight against 15 other players who graduate the same year as me, to have a starting position. I will fight to the end even if I may not start on the team, but I will never give up on pushing myself to be the best. This opportunity for me will change my life forever because it affects my life now, as well as my life in the future. It would mean the world to me if I was able to be someone that college coaches are willing to look at, and accept.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to prove myself to the world.
