Savka Popovic '20 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to be part of a dynamic team at a university that is academically rigorous. I am a good candidate because I bring lots of energy and focus to my games and enjoy working hard alongside my teammates. I plan to major in Business and English with a minor in marketing. My long term goal is to attend law school and work in international law. I speak Serbo-Croatian and am studying Mandarin Chinese in school with the hope that both languages will help me in the future.    Volleyball is my passion. I enjoy the team work necessary in court volleyball and the stamina and strategy required for beach volleyball.  Both games require a competitive spirit, strong strategy and endurance.

As a first born child of parents who emigrated to the United States at a young age,  I have been taught early on to value a strong education and have a hard work ethic. I work to maintain a very high GPA while taking honors classes.  Playing both beach volleyball and court volleyball forces me to stay organized and self motivated.   I think this is an asset that I can bring to any team. I am competitive by nature and enjoy working with my teammates, whether it is one partner in a beach volleyball tournament or several other teammates during court games.  My athleticism comes from playing tennis, dancing in the Serbian Folkore Troupe and doing tumbling/trampoline when I was younger. Once I discovered volleyball, I was hooked. I am constantly trying to get better through camps, lessons and various tournaments. I also assist in teaching younger athletes during beach positionals.
