My name is Bethany Swartz and I am part of the Class of 2025. My dream is to play high-level volleyball in college. The first time I saw volleyball in fifth grade, I knew it was the sport for me. I have been playing club ever since 2017. I love the teamwork aspect of volleyball and I have a strong desire to play at a competitive level. On and off the court I am very coachable, I have high energy, a positive attitude, and I love to encourage others. I work hard to improve outside of practice by working out multiple times a week. For the past two years, my primary position has been Libero.
In the classroom, I strive for excellence. I work hard to maintain high grades. I am homeschooled and also attend a co-school called Greenhouse. At Greenhouse, I am in the Servant Leadership Program. In this program, I help the younger students by supervising recess and checking them out at the end of the day. I serve in the Greenhouse Buddy program where I am a mentor for two younger students. I also work as a Classroom Assistant for first and second graders.
I enjoy playing the piano. I have taken lessons since first grade and perform at an intermediate-advanced level. I am currently working to earn my Achievement in Music (AIM) Level 10 certification. I participate regularly in recitals and recently earned a gold medal in the Harper College Sonata-Sonatina Festival.
Faith is a big part of my life. I am very involved in my church community and serve as an acolyte. I strive to have a deep connection with God and to be a light for Christ in school, with my friends, and on and off the volleyball court.
I am exploring a variety of academic interests and I would want to go to a college with multiple possible majors. The atmosphere is also important. I am looking for a Christian environment where lasting friendships are made.
