Personal Statement

My name is Courtney Moritz, and I am a 17 year old setter from Illini Elite Volleyball Club in Bloomington, Illinois. I have been chosen for an elite team for the past five years. I have tournament experience at the national and regional level: AAU Nationals, JVA World Challenge, Sports Performance Presidents Day Challenge, JVA Showcase at the Dells, AAU Super Regional, National Junior Classic, and the Great Lakes Power League.

In addition to volleyball skills, playing club volleyball has taught me so much about being fully committed, making sacrifices, focusing on continuous improvement, and being a team player. My goal is to find a college volleyball program needing a strong and experienced setter. My academic interests include business, accounting, and psychology.

My high school also has a strong varsity volleyball program. Our team finished 4th in the State of Illinois last fall. Individual awards include assist leader, ace leader, and 100% effort. I received recognition as an All Area Rising Star.

When I am not playing volleyball, you can find me in the barn. . . I am also an accomplished equestrian. For the past eight years, I have competed in western pleasure and English riding events with my American quarter horse. Thank you for considering me for your program.
