Hello! My name is Amaya Duzan and I am currently a Junior at Oakland High School. I have participated in many sports but none have captured my heart quite like volleyball. I first started playing in 5th grade and since entering high school, I'm proud to acknowledge that I've been a varsity starter since my Freshman year. My strong suit has always been setting, but thanks to my high school and club coaches I have improved tremendously in all aspects of the game. I have also preformed in some games as an OH but, no matter the position, I have always made sure to stay on my toes ready to play defense.
My Junior year season was sadly cut short due to an injury that occurred while on the court. Back in September, I tore my ACL in my left knee. I had my surgery at the beginning of October and since then have been attending physical therapy and training to return to the court again. With my current recovery state, I am expected to be released this April. Though the physical recovery as well as the mental side of the situation has been challenging, I am determined to become an even stronger player than I was before!
Outside of volleyball, I withhold at or above a 3.5 GPA and am involved with many extracurricular activities such as FCCLA, FFA, Yearbook Club, ECO Team, Chem Club, and Theater as well as immensely involving myself in my community. As I get closer to the next chapter in my life, I hope to find the best possible college that suits me both athletically and academically. My dream is to play volleyball at the highest collegiate level possible while continuing my studies in Business, Fine Arts and Studio Arts.
Thank you for your time and interest.
