Hello! My name is Olivia Heidel and I am a setter for the class of 2022.
When I was younger, I went with my family to watch my cousin's volleyball game. Instantly, I fell in love with the sport and had to try it out for myself. As soon as I stepped onto the court I knew that I wanted to play at a high level. I realize that playing collegiately is a huge commitment, but I am up for the challenge!
Volleyball has taught me so much about myself throughout the years. I have learned that I can do anything I put my mind to. Also, I have developed a strong work ethic because of volleyball. Each time I am in the gym, all I want to do is get one percent better with my team and stay focused on my goals. Next, I have learned time management because of balancing school, homework and practice. I have been a team captain for both school and travel ball. This has allowed me to figure out how to communicate with all types of people. Knowing how to talk to each and every one of your teammates is very important. I am an upbeat person and I always encourage the people around me to do their best. I think that being a leader requires a positive attitude even when things are difficult.
My father is a principal, so the importance of of education has been instilled in me since a young age. He has shown me that hard work will bring success whether that be in the classroom or on the court. I would love to pursue a career in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy. I have been passionate about helping others and with either of these jobs I can do so. On the other hand, writing is always something I have enjoyed. It has been a creative outlet for me. For right now, Journalism is my second choice to major in. However, I am still young so who knows which direction I will choose!!
Overall, I am looking for a college that challenges me both athletically and academically. I am very excited for what the future holds!
