Personal Statement

Hello!  My name is Samantha Christiansen.  My friends and coaches call me Sam.  I’ve been playing volleyball since I was in 2nd Grade and started playing club volleyball at the age of 10.  I have played cello in our school’s orchestra for 5 years and am on the Varsity Basketball and Varsity Track Teams.  I’ve worked as a paid volleyball referee for our local YMCA for youth and adult leagues since I was 14.  I am maintaining my 4.0+ GPA and still find time for my friends.  I’m a hard worker, am a self-motivator and have an inner drive and stamina that push me to be the best I can be on and off the court.  The only thing I have ever asked for is a chance to prove myself.

Being a college student is a privilege, but getting to play my passion while there would be a gift.  I would like to be part of something bigger than myself; I would like to be part of a team with amazing volleyball girls that are like family.  I feel like I have the true spirit of team putting my team first and foremost.  Whether I’m on the court practicing, playing or standing on the sidelines, I always have a positive attitude, am a supportive teammate and cheer on my fellow teammates.
