My sports career started when I was 6 years old. I started out with dance for 2 years and tennis over the summer. I started gymnastics when I was 8, made the team when I was 10 and competed for 2 years. During my last year in gymnastics, I qualified for state and regional competitions. Then, after my season in level 3, I decided to try something new, so I tried volleyball; and little did I know it would become the next big chapter of my life.
That summer I did a volleyball camp at my school and fell in love with it. The first time I fell on my knee and skinned it on the court was the moment I knew I was going to love volleyball.
After that, I tried out for and made the Middle School team in 8th grade. My first year of competitive volleyball was the last year of middle school, so I had to work very hard to catch up to the level that my teammates were at to make the High School team.
After the 8th grade season, I played 2 sessions of recreation volleyball at the Community Center near my house. I also did clinics at the MAVA club, as well as summer camps at University of Kentucky in preparation for my High School tryouts.
I did make the High School team and I was assigned as an outside hitter. I was the only one that got to play all around for every game.
Later in the season, I got pulled up to the JV team and played with them the last couple of games. Now that the school season is over, I will go on to play club at MAVA, where I look forward to developing my skills as a hitter.
My goal is to play volleyball at the college level. I have a strong work ethic, and am a good listener, and easy to coach. When I love something, I put in my very best effort to achieve it.
My future academic goals are to get a degree in business/marketing, because a business degree would give me an advantage in various career opportunities or business ownership.
