Personal Statement

Ever since I stepped on the volleyball court, I knew there was something special about the sport, and I realized that I wanted to continue with it as long as possible. As I have grown up, volleyball has remained my passion and has helped me develop as a person and athlete. The sport has enabled me to develop different characteristics and traits such as hard work, persistence, and patience, which are essential features of a competitor with the ultimate goal of winning. For high school, I play middle hitter, which is a crucial position to the overall tone of the volleyball game because most of the action during a game happens in and around the position. With my learned ability to remain calm under pressure, work well in a team, and have a strategy when things get out of control, I always deliver excellent results of a winner in the game.  Along with my teammates, it has allowed us to become district champions for two straight seasons.  To better prepare myself, I play travel volleyball at the national level off season.  My 2022 season brought me from west coast, south and midwest regional tournaments where my skills increased exponentially. For my club team, I am a right side and middle hitter.

I am dedicated, hard-working, and passionate.  I am motivated and I play with integrity.  I am a team leader that believes in leading by example.  I am a supportive and encouraging teammate and very coachable player.  I don't make excuses when I make mistakes and I don’t dwell on it but rather focus on making the next play better.  Volleyball  often takes my mind off my busy school life.  However when I’m not  playing, my other interests are in the sciences, mathematics, and art.   In the sciences particularly, my career interest lies in medicine.  I am looking for a program that will be conducive to with my academic pursuits.  My love for volleyball is undeniable.  I know it takes hard work,  dedication, and passion to be successful at the next level.  I believe I  would be a great asset to your program.  “Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.” —Marv Levy…I am ready to embark on this journey!
