Personal Statement
I am 5’11, and am an outside hitter from Caledonia High School. My freshman year of high school I was pulled up to the JV team, and my sophomore year I was on JV as team captain. This team was a great fit for me and I improved a lot. Every spring I look forward to playing on a travel team for FarOut volleyball club. This past spring I was on a U16 regional team and got to travel around the mid-west to compete. My coach helped me a lot this season with my jump serve and outside hitting. I have trained and played as a setter, outside, middle, and right side hitter. I will play whatever position the coach needs me to help the team. On the court I am an excellent team player and understands that everyone on the team plays an important role.
When I’m not on the volleyball court I am out on the ski hill racing with my high school team. As soon as volleyball ends I start up dry land, and as soon as snow flies I’m out on the hill six to seven nights a week. My freshman year I qualified for the State Finals. My sophomore season I won the Giant Slalom race at regionals and also finished in the top five in the Slalom. At the State Finals, I finished 11th in Giant Slalom, which qualified me for a 2nd Team All State placement in GS.
School has always been a big part of my life and I have been able to maintain a 3.9 GPA while juggling two sports. Because I play two sports I have learned time management, and never let sports and school interfere with each other. I am also involved with community volunteer work through my schools chapter of National Honor Society. My goal for college is to go into the medical field and become a surgical nurse. I am looking for a school with a strong medical program that can help me reach this goal of becoming a surgical nurse.
