Personal Statement
I come from an athletic family and began playing soccer at the age of four. I also took gymnastics and ballet from 4 to 8 years-old. My parents were in the military so we moved quite a bit. I was introduced to volleyball at the age of 10 and played for Vientiane International School in Laos.
My volleyball skills and IQ improved drastically when we moved back to the United States and I started to play for Nevada Youth Sports (NYS). I started playing as an outside hitter for Rancho High School in 2017. That same year I played for a traveling club team, Ignite Vegas Volleyball Club, also as an outside hitter.
I lettered as Varsity outside hitter for Rancho High School in 2017 and 2018. This season, we are currently undefeated in our division. This is my senior year and I am playing libero and defensive specialist for Rancho High School as well as assuming the duties of team captain. I am currently ranked 4th top stats leader in digs in my division with SP 30, D 153, D/S 4.6 and my highest digs for one game is 30 digs against Faith Lutheran. With an overall ranking of 7th top stats leader in digs for the state of Nevada.
In 2017, I played as a starter outside hitter for a travel club team, Ignite Vegas Volleyball Club. This year I will be playing for Vegas United Volleyball Club.
I am a consistent, focused, and a reliable all around player. I am competitive on and off the court and understand the importance of every position. As a team captain, my duties extend beyond technical proficiency; it includes team cohesiveness and fostering a winning environment.
My dream is to play competitive volleyball at the collegiate level and I am willing to explore opportunities at all levels. I have been successful and effective as a libero and defensive specialist but I am also a very versatile athlete. It is important for me to belong to a team that fosters and encourages the holistic approach of being a student athlete. I feel that everything I learn on the court will shape my experiences and ultimately myself into a well-rounded individual and provide me with the tools to be successful in whatever path I choose. I want to reciprocate everything I learn and help make a more successful team.
Sincerely,
Kaille Ferguson
