Chloë Nimmer '19 Recruiting Profile

As you can see from my online profile, volleyball has been a BIG part of my life.  I've loved volleyball since I started played at age 9, and I'd love to continue playing at college.  I have matured A LOT this past year. My transcript for my first 2 years of high school is mine, I own it.  I’m not proud of it, but it reflects who I was before I started getting serious about my future.  As a sibling to an over-achieving older sister, I grew up constantly comparing myself to her and kind of giving up on myself before I even tried.  Not so anymore.  With my sister off to college, I took stock of my situation and decided I needed to change who I was, and settled on a 2-pronged strategy to become organized.  1) I was going to be the best volleyball player on my teams, and build strong supportive relationships with all my teammates and coaches.  I was going to be the kid that made everyone better simply by being who I was: passionate about volleyball, determined to win, and committed to being the first-on/last-off the court teammate who could be relied upon to steady the team when times got tough, and bring the focus to get the win!  2) I was going to get my act together academically.  Currently, I’m averaging a 3.75 (out of 4.0) and I hope to bring that even higher.  School shouldn’t ever have been an issue for me, but my immaturity allowed me to wallow for far too long.  I now feel confident in who I am as a student and athlete, and I know I will continue to be successful not only in high school & college, but for the rest of my life.

• “Next time I’ll care about it.”
• “I know, but I’m already doing it.”
• “Sure coach, but I think...”
• “Wait, what are we doing now?”
• “Why can’t I get more playing time?”
• “But my mom/dad told me I should...”
