Hello, my name is Macie McMillan. I am currently a junior at Myrtle Beach High School in Myrtle Beach, SC. I found my love for volleyball while playing several other sports including golf, softball and many others. My family would go to Myrtle Beach HS volleyball matches to see friends daughters play and the excitement and no stop energy blew my away. I decided at that moment volleyball was where I wanted to direct my energy and focus. I began playing at the MB Rec Dept. at the age of 10 and did development league with GSJ, but realized quickly I needed more focused coaching and training. I search our area and found Coach Larry Church and Coash Alex Sing with Grand Strand Juniors(GSJ) and they set me in motion to gain experience and more detailed coaching. I made the 12 U National Team and have continued to grow from there. As a 7th grader I made the High School JV team and learned and developed so much. Since then I have won the Seahawk Award (MVP) and been on varsity since the 8th grade and made the highest level club travel team at Grand Strand Juniors (Coast United) ever since. I am a true leader, my focus is bringing others together. Sometimes I lead with my actions and as I get older I am learning that I need to be a vocal leader as well. This year, my junior year I was named team captain at MBHS and looking forward to an amazing final two years in high school and club. Other than volleyball, my focus turns to my family, my youth group and my friends. I am blessed with an amazing friend group who have for the most part been together since kindergarten. After volleyball my passions hope to include something in the medical field, maybe an orthopedic surgeon for Pediatrics or maybe a Register Nurse Anesthetist. no matter where I end up I know I want to help others and improve their quality of life. One of my biggest blessings is my backpack project(Macie's Backpack Project) I started in 1st grade. Since then I have raised enough money to donate well in excess of 6,000 backpacks and supplies to needy children in my school district (Horry County). I would love the chance to play college volleyball and help make a team better both athletically and academically.
