Personal Statement

In college I would like to study Business or Finance. I believe what makes me a good candidate for any college golf program would be my work ethic and leadership. Throughout High School, Academics and Golf have been my two biggest points of focus and my work ethic has allowed me to succeed in both of them. Along with having taken many Honors and AP courses that have shaped me as a student, having been on the Varsity Golf Team since 7th grade has shaped me as a leader and an athlete and I look forward to bringing that to a college golf program.

  • 3/25/23 to 3/26/23
  • A weekend full of storms at Diamondback Golf Club made for a very competitive and lengthy two rounds. On Saturday, rain came around the 5th hole and an hour rain delay was put in place before we were able to go back out. Being able to keep a competitive mindset even though there was an hour rain delay allowed me to grind out my round to turn a in a (+2) 74, leaving me tied for 2nd after the first day behind Jay Smith who is ranked 2nd in the state. An even par start to the front nine on Sunday was cut short due to thunderstorms and this caused the tournament to revert back to Saturdays scores. Overall, this left me T-2 out of 110 players and 24 teams, and on the All-Tournament Team. This event showed me how keeping your head in the game no matter what is happening externally can help me keep my scores as low as possible now matter how I am hitting the ball.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2023 Magnolia Invitational
  • 3/13/23 to 3/14/23
  • A cold and windy weekend in Sumter, SC with sub 40 degree temperatures and 20 mph winds made for an extremely tough golf course at the Magnolia Invitational. Fantastic driver and short game play led me to a (+5) 75-74 finish, making the All-Tournament team and finishing in solo 3rd place out of 96 players and 24 teams. A common trend for me in my past few tournaments has been my iron play being my downfall and having to scramble with my short game to put up a decent score. This has showed me exactly where I need to put my focus before my next tournament so I can perform at my highest capability.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2023 Patriot Invitational
  • 2/27/23 to 2/27/23
  • Starting off the 2023 high school golf season well with a (+1) 73 on a wet and narrow golf course. A shotgun start had me starting in the middle of the front nine where I started par-double. Being able to play my last 16 holes (-1) and being able to grind it out and finish strong showed me how keeping my confidence and mindset strong can keep you in a tournament despite one bad hole. A fantastic short game round with 29 putts and 5 up-and-downs led me to a 6th place finish out of 110 high school players and showed me that my scrambling ability is able to keep me in contention no matter how I am hitting the ball.
  • Camp/Event
  • SCJGA Presidents Day One-Day
  • 2/20/23 to 2/20/23
  • This tournament showed me how important keeping a steady mindset while also staying aggressive can lead to lower scores. Darlington CC is a shorter golf course, with small greens and firm lies throughout the green. Shooting a (+2) 74 unfortunately left me T2 for the tournament but there are many great things to look back on and also things to improve on. A fantastic driving and putting round with 11 fairways and 29 putts shows that my iron game needs to be improved on to give myself the best chance at a 1st place finish in my next tournament. However, only hitting 8 greens throughout the round showed me that I can find a way to still compete even when an aspect of my game is not clicking. Having confidence in myself around the greens and being able to get up and down when it matters has improved my confidence, and hopefully coupled with better iron play in my next tournament will lead me to a victory.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2023 HJGT - Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open
  • 2/11/23 to 2/12/23
  • A runner up finish at the Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open showed me how significant some shots on the golf course can really be. A rainy weekend at Arrowhead CC made for an extremely tough course. Abundant puddles in the fairway and greenside areas made for a much longer playing course and slower greens. In Round 1, I was not feeling very good off of the tee, hitting fairways but not hitting the ball exactly where I wanted to firing a (+3) 75. In Round 2, the storm had arrived and the rain started to come down very hard on about the 12th hole. I ended up shooting a (+6) 78 and finishing 2nd truly left a bad taste in my mouth. Looking back, considering the conditions of the tournament I feel that with a slightly better putting round the second day, I would have put myself in a position to win and I feel that I have learned a lot from playing in these conditions.
  • Camp/Event
  • Charleston Kickoff at Wild Dunes
  • 1/28/23 to 1/29/23
  • Being able to win a two-day tournament, with tough conditions on a very tough golf course, and having a 4 stroke lead after the first day was definitely a very good learning experience for me. Having to play with the pressure of having a lead all day, although being something I've done before, teaches me how to play well under pressure and perform when necessary. Overall, nothing about my game specifically stood out except for course management and being able to outthink my opponents and not just beat them with good shots. This was a great tournament to be a part of and I hope to take this momentum into my high school golf season.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT - Myrtle Beach Winter Junior Open
  • 12/17/22 to 12/18/22
  • 1st place finish with many great things to look back on. This was one of the best putting tournaments I had having 30 putts the first day and 29 putts the second day. Being able to make up for sloppy approach shots with good short game and keeping the right mindset allowed me to pull away with the win shooting a (+4) 74-74.
  • Camp/Event
  • CPGA - Charles Tilghman Junior Championship
  • 12/10/22 to 12/11/22
  • The Charles Tilghman was a great learning experience for me. Even though I didn't finish how I wanted to I learned many valuable lessons about grinding out rounds that aren't your best and finishing strong no matter how bad you might be playing. On the first day, after shooting a 40 on the front side, I kept the course in front of me and managed to shoot a (-3) 33 on the back to finish at (+1) 73. Unfortunately, I did not perform how I wanted to the second day shooting a (+6) 78, finishing the tournament at (+7) 73-78. This tournament, even though it was not my best golf, showed me how to keep your head up and push through rough holes and have resiliency against a tough golf course.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2022 George Holiday Memorial
  • 11/24/22 to 11/26/22
  • A top 10 finish in the boys 16-18 division at the George Holiday was something I can look back on and be proud of. Just having transitioned to new clubs, getting my numbers dialed in and keeping my short game in check was going to be the most important thing for all three rounds to ensure I was staying in the hunt. I ended up finishing all three days at (+7) 76-75-72. Being able to finish the tournament with an even par 72 on the hardest course at the club, showed me that I have the ability to go out and shoot low numbers, and all that I need to work on is my consistency and keeping a constant, focused mindset throughout the entire tournament.
