Loving a Sport Can Lead to Great Things: Volleyball is my happy place and somewhere I can go to feel stress free. It reminds me of my pillow; it's comforting and soothing. Although I'm very young I believe that volleyball will have a big impact on my future. I have been playing this sport since the first grade. I quickly realized how passionate I was about this new adventure. Since that moment, I have made it my mission to work hard, continue to grow and take every opportunity to participate in the sport I love.
Teammates are Family: Growing up in a volleyball environment has taught me that your teammates are like your family. I started club volleyball three years ago. In that time, I've learned that your dependability and loyalty to your team is very important. The friendships I have made, though we may no longer be on the same team, have continued to be some of the strongest relationships I have made in my life. When you are surrounded by people that feel the same way you do about volleyball; it feels spectacular.
Personal Growth: As I have grown to be the young woman I am today. I've learned that this is the only sport that I have ever felt emotionally attached to. I also have learned that this sport has made me a better person. It's made me realize it's not just about me, it's about being a team. Either we all lose or we all win, regardless of the outcome we do it together. Volleyball has brought out the best in me. Throughout my volleyball career I have learned more about myself and my body, both mentally and physically. It has made me learn my own strengths and weaknesses. I used to believe that volleyball was all about not letting a white ball hit the ground, but it's not. Now I know it's much more. It's about believing in yourself and believing in your teammates. It's about building a bond that can't be broken. That's the key.
Goals: My ultimate dream is to go to a D1 college and play volleyball. I am more than willing to put in the work and continue to grow as an athlete. I know this will probably be one of the hardest and most ambitious goals I ever work towards. It is one of the main reasons I chose this club. I am not afraid to put in the work. This sport is something I want to still be doing even after I graduate. Something that makes me extremely happy is sharing my knowledge and experience with others. Coaching volleyball allows me to do that. Whether that is mentoring little girls or maybe even helping someone my own age, I love being able to connect with them through volleyball. I've been told that I'm a great role model for young girls to look up to.
Volleyball is My Home: Volleyball is my everything. Volleyball is my whole world, but most of all, volleyball is my home. I know no matter what happens in my future, I will always remember the countless days of me in every open gym and practice that I had with my friends, putting in the work to get better and improve. I can honestly say volleyball has helped make me into the person I am today. I know if you would just get to know me personally and see the positive impact that it has had on my life, you'd better understand my connection with volleyball.
