Hi! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
I didn't always want to be a volleyball player. I started gymnastics when I was 3 years old. By the time I turned 6, I was competing competitively which I did for 7 years. There is a reason that gymnasts are usually short. It takes a lot to whip a tall body around on floor, beam, bars and vault. I found myself 5'5" tall at the age of 11 and it was becoming too difficult to continue on in gymnastics even though I loved the sport. I decided it was time to try a new sport so I signed up for a practice team at my local travel volleyball club. One of the best decisions I ever made! That is where my love for volleyball began. I am still with the travel club (FJVC) and am starting my second year with them on the nationals team.
I feel what sets me apart from other volleyball recruits is my desire to work hard and constantly improve myself. Because of my strong work ethic, I made my schools varsity volleyball team and earned a starting position my freshman year. Because I have been involved in travel sports, I have learned how to manage my time both on and off the court. Gymnastics taught me at an early age to be disciplined, work hard, over come obstacles and to believe in myself. Because of that, I have a 4.0 GPA. I know academics comes first and always will. I also believe that athletics and school is not everything. I am involved in school activities to include DECA, I've been on my class board since entering HS and am in other various clubs. I also have a part time job as an Event Coordinator, which has taught me how to deal with all kinds of people and put me in leadership roles when working an event.
One of my favorite things about being on the volleyball team both at school and my travel team is they become my family. Both of my teams are very much that way. We work hard together and have fun together. It is WE not ME on and off the court for us.
I look forward to finding a program that strives to be the best and provides me with a great education.
