Hello I’m Claire Turner. I’ll be a Junior at Laguna Beach High School this coming year. I have been fortunate to be part of very good programs here in Laguna, with the Laguna Beach age group club program, Laguna Beach High School and SET water polo club. I have been playing water polo since I was with the Laguna Beach 10U program. In the years I've been playing, I have contributed to multiple JO championship teams, been given MVP and All-American honors, and was the Offensive Player of the Year for LBHS's JV team this past year. I hope to continue to grow with Polo into college.
While I’m designated a 2 meter player, our program stresses fast play and counter attacks, so we need to learn all positions and be able to adapt with every possession. I pride myself on defense, passing, and assists but love to score when the given the opportunity. I also consider myself a very good team player and have never been a selfish player. I have made life-long friendships with many of my team mates.
I have played multiple sports, including soccer and basketball, but gave those up before high school to concentrate on water polo. I do love team sports and enjoy the competition and camaraderie. So during the water polo off-season, I play high school lacrosse as well as participate on the swim team.
I’m focused on a career in finance. Math is my best subject and I take multiple AP and honors courses, including completing the AP Computer Sciences career pathway. Currently my GPA is 4.1 and I am completing college credits each summer.
I have worked for the past 3 summers with the local beach camp as a counselor for the youngest group (ages 4-7) and as an assistant instructor in both swim and beginning water polo lessons.
For fun I love to socialize with my friends and spend time at the beach doing anything in the water, including surfing, snorkeling, and swimming. I have participated a number of times in the local Laguna Beach aquathon, which is an 8 mile swim-walk along the entire coast of Laguna Beach.
