Growing up I was able to watch my cousins all compete at state wrestling and attended just about every Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament. I remember telling my family that someday when I grew up that I would wrestle too. They would normally just laugh it off and never took me serious (as I was only 7 at the time). When I found out that I actually had the opportunity I jumped at the chance. I did not know what to expect when I first joined my Junior year. I thought that maybe it would help me stay in shape and that I might win a few matches here and there. However, I quickly fell in love with the sport. I never even knew that I would be able to enjoy a sport as much as I do wrestling. I was able to learn the ways around the sport fast, and about halfway through the season I found out that I was ranked #8 in the state and #4 within our districts. I was blown away! When I won my match that got me to state I was through the roof and knew right when I stepped off the mat, that this was something I wanted to continue in college.
I love to help others as much as possible and was able to coach the little girls on our schools club team. I want to be able to push myself to compete at the college level. I have great team work abilities and enjoy supporting all the players on my team. I am the team leader for my high school team and I try to make sure that the girls and guys all know that they have a team mate that is always there if they need anything. If any of the girls didn't understand a move I would stop and take them step by step through the process until they understood and were able to do the move themselves. I make sure to push myself as much and as often as I can and I am always trying to improve myself everyday on and off the mats, in any way. My main goal is continue to compete in wrestling and to get better everyday.
