Hello my name is Eve Smith. I am current JR at Midlothian Heritage High School in Midlothian TX. I believe that one of the things that sets me a part from other recruits ion athletics is my ability and willingness to wrestle at different weights and be successful. I wrestled my freshman year at 165 and place 4th in the state after coming in 3rd in district and 2nd at Region. Then my sophomore I was re-districted to another school and because they had a senior, wrestling for the first time who had been their manager the year before, I wrestled up at 185 so she would not have to cut weight and it also helped to fill a hole in the dual team. I won district that year and came in second at region but had a tough state championship, taking losses in the quarterfinals and consolation round 3. I DNP that year. 2024 was my JR year and I trained even harder and after wrestling the first half of the year at 185 I got back to 165 to finished off the year and won District and Region before placing second at the state meet.
I am committed to excellence when I was 5 I started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and although it has been taken a backseat to wrestling since I got into high school I am still active in it and I received my blue belt 2 years ago and should be receiving my purple belt soon.
I started wrestling in 2019 grade and won state championships at the Novice (2x), Beginner (1x), and Girls Open (2x). In 2022 I won a state title in Girls Greco at 164lbs.
I am also a hard worker that doesn't quit but I believe that is because of wrestling and consider that a trait shared by most wrestlers.
Although I have had my successes on the mat I believe my greatest achievement and the thing I am most proud of, which speaks to my character, took place on a bridge in Mansfield, TX. I was coming home after having dinner with some friends a noticed an man standing of the wrong side of the guardrail looking down at the highway under him. I quickly got out of the car and approached him and told him that he was loved. He looked at me for a while and smiled then stepped back over the guardrail and began walking away. I got back in the car and called the police. I am not sure what happened to him but I hope that my action made a difference.
As far as my academics I am not exceptional student, I do well but struggle with some subjects but I do work hard to keeps my grades up.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon.
