My dad had wrestled in high school and college and is now a pro MMA fighter. When I was younger I wanted to be like my dad, so I tried wrestling for about 4 seasons. I felt like it was bearing too much on me and tried other sports, but just couldn't find one. I didn't do any sports until high school so I chose wrestling again and just fell deeply in love with the sport and the community. Wrestling helped me on the mat in the classroom and in life. Now looking back I realize those 4 seasons helped developed the drive and passion I have now although I didn't know at that time. Now that my dad had his run its my time to run/wrestle and forge a new path.
My collegiate goals are some I've thought deeply about and have changed multiple times, but the one thing that hasn't changed since I've thought about college was wrestling. An academic goal of mine is to thrive and excel in my academics with the help of my passion about computers. i have had a thing for computers since I was 8, I remember taking the computer and putting it back together. I aspire to be the best version of myself in the classroom on the mat and in life. I try to strive and lead by example by being a coachable kid, taking losses in stride, trying to help my teammates as much as I can by helping them learn a new move or better hand placement or just helping them with advice when they ask.
