Robbie Gladwell '11 Recruiting Profile

My High School Wrestling career is over. I finished second in the state as a senior, third as a junior, fourth as a sophomore and qualified as a freshman. My greatest moments, Croatan High school won the state championship my junior and senior year. It was expected for Croatan to win my junior year. It wasn't my senior year. I was captain of the team and we won back to back state championships team and individuals. All the titles and medals for me individually were not as important as those state team medals. My most memorable accomplishment this past year was the fastest pin, five seconds. This fastest pin had been my goal for three years and my coach knew it. I tried for three years and got it, Five seconds. This time is tied second in the nation. I have learned that you need to define it and then aim for it. I am long and lean, fast and fit. I have learned to listen to my coaches. Those who do, win more. I want to wrestle in college. I don't care where. I want to feel at home on campus and on the mat. I have no other college requirements. I just want to feel at home and wrestle my heart out. Some of my former teammates are wrestling in college and I am amazed at what they have learned and how they polished their skills. I want them same. I would prefer a smaller school. But, honestly, I do not care. I want a coach that I feel at home with and a team that I can help win and grow. Watching our high school team grow and win was awesome. I would be happy with that same situation. I just want a campus with a wrestling mat. I am going to apply for financial aid. I have spent some time thinking about what I should major in and I honestly cannot say what that will be at this time. I am leaning toward teaching but I would like to keep an open mind. My athletic goals are to make a positive contribution to a team. Yes, I want to wrestle as many years as I can but if it means I don't for a year or two and learn and master from the best, I am all about it.
