I started wrestling when I was 5 years old because I watched my older brother wrestle and also wanted to do it. I enjoy the process of learning how to get better at the art of wrestling.
I believe I can be an asset to a college wrestling program because I also used to train in Jiu Jitsu and won Youth Submission-Only Worlds. Some of the techniques and principles are applicable to wrestling even though the format is different. I've also had boxing matches and while wrestling is detailed on technique, boxing is detailed on strategy and applying some of the principles of strategy has helped win some matches I may not have otherwise won.
My goals for this year in wrestling is to win States. My goal in college is to win the highest championship within the realm that my school competes in.
My goal academically is to maintain above a 3.0 GPA, I would like to get a 3.5.
My best high school accomplishment thus far was winning Districts and placing third in Regionals last year, my Sophomore year. I was relatively young for being a Sophomore since I've never been held back, have an August birthday, missed half my freshman season with an injury and I beat a couple guys that were seeded higher. The guys that won 1st and 2nd in the Regionals ended up winning 1st and 4th in the State tournament. My school competes in the 6A division in Regionals and States which is the highest division.
