Personal Statement
Playing collegiate softball is a dream of mine. Growing up, I spent most weekends watching my brother play baseball, I wanted to be just like him. It was then that I was introduced to the game of softball and I loved it. My parents always encourage me to try new things and supported me 100%. I have been fortunate in that my parents have allowed me to take advantage of some amazing softball opportunities. Through these opportunities I have learned great emotional control, mastery of the fundamentals, and have come to have an excellent understanding of the game. These lessons have made me able to make quick decisions while on the field and have given me the ability to cope with stress. I was always told that in order to be successful, one needs to learn how to cope with losing and failing. Failure has been the motivator for my success and I make sure to remember this both on and off the field. Playing the game of softball has made me realize that I am a natural leader.
Coming from a family that is supportive and pushes me be my best, I never give less than 100% effort. My parents always remind me that in order to achieve excellence we must strive for perfection and the difference between success and failure is how you handle losing. They have taught me that there are important lessons in losing. I am always striving to improve my game, my leadership abilities, my knowledge and skills, and my overall commitment to just being a good person. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the dedication, character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to be an asset to your program.
