Willem Mizenko '23 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to develop as a player and as a person/student at the  Division 1 level.  My ultimate goals in college would be to play in the NCAA tournament and become a Hobey Baker finalist and then graduate with a degree in my desired career path (Engineering or STEM field).  What separates me as a student athlete is my ability/desire to always learn and improve by being a student of the game. I’m fortunate that my work ethic and innate ability has enabled me to play at the highest levels so far. I was a starter in the Pee Wee Quebec AAA tournament in 2018, I also played for the Connecticut Jr Huskies AAA Elite team from 2018-2020 (in the EHF). Then, I was a Select 14u invite in 2019 for the New York State district (USA hockey). As a true Freshman, I was on my high school varsity team at Christian Brothers Academy.   Then, as a sophomore, I transferred to Albany Academy in the NEPSAC, while playing on the 15O Yale Jr Bulldogs (National) who played in the Beast League in Fall 2020.  In 2021, I’m playing on (2 )18u Fall wrap teams - Troy Albany Titans 18u National, and 18u Yale Jr Bulldogs Showcase.   As an 05 birth year,  I have adjusted very well to the jump in age level, and am looking forward to playing the upcoming Prep School season (2021-2022) with Albany Academy.  My goal for the season is to help the team reach the small school Prep playoffs, and then to help Troy Albany advance to NY States and compete to reach Nationals in Spring 2022.  I am excited to begin the Juniors and NCAA recruitment process  and I look forward to the opportunities ahead.
