Personal Statement
My name is Taylor Ricke and I'm a Junior at Johnston High School, where I started varsity for my first year as a setter. I am very passionate about the sport of volleyball and all it has to offer for me. I would love to be able to continue my career at a higher level, while also pursuing a college that has the best fit for me not only on the court but in the classrooms. Setting has always been something that I have been passionate about for the last 7 years, and I am always willing to go the extra mile and work above and beyond to further my skills. I enjoy every challenge that comes with the position, and how it has made me into the leader I am on and off the court today. I feel this position has given me a viewing of being a natural leader, while still being coachable. With being a natural leader I have been honored as being my club teams captain for the last 4 years. If I notice a player is struggling I am always more then willing to lend a hand and try to be as supportive to them in anyway I can. I am constantly pushing myself to work as hard as I can, and I am always trying to get better everyday by pushing myself. I just have a natural drive to continually get better each and everyday or time I enter into the gym.
Not only do I work hard on the court, but I work just as hard if not harder in the classroom with my academics. My interest in math and science has led me to wanting to pursue my dream job of being somewhere in the health profession field or with kinesiology and physical science. Having a constant helping hand and wanting to take charge while being competitive I believe is what makes me want to pursue in physical therapy and setting.
