Personal Statement
“Kenzie is a driven kid with a strong work ethic. Anyone with these attributes will find a way to be a success…regardless if it is in sports or life.”
Craig Vlietstra, Master Coach at Michigan Volleyball Academy in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
As Coach Craig stated, I’m very determined. I set big goals for myself, both academically and athletically, and focus my efforts on achieving those goals. One of my goals includes playing collegiate level volleyball as I prepare for a successful career in business management. If you are seeking an intense, powerful player with a never-give-up attitude to motivate and provide leadership to your team, please keep reading.
My coaches and teammates have always looked to me for leadership. I am the one on and off the court that stays engaged, accepts responsibility, gives 110% at all times, and motivates both myself and others to perform their best. Playing volleyball is my passion and I pride myself on the success of the team and the relationships I build with coaches and teammates.
I have proven I can be successful at managing a tough academic load while devoting five to seven days/nights a week to volleyball. As devoted as I am to volleyball, academics are my top priority. I have big professional goals and I know what it takes to succeed academically. I attend a college preparatory high school and challenge myself in AP classes whenever there is a good fit. I am dually enrolled with Aquinas College taking collegiate level business classes and have completed a summer internship in the business and marketing field.
But, there is more to me than just a rigid schedule. In the free time I do have, I fully engage whenever an opportunity arises to hang out with friends. I have also enjoyed a few opportunities to travel with my family and explore other cultures. One of the best experiences was a mission trip to Haiti last year during spring break! I assisted in the development of the schools and building shelters and drinking wells. It was an amazing, unforgettable experience to say the least. I expected to teach others; but, I found that I was the one learning.
Feel free to contact me or come watch me play if you would like to learn more!
