Personal Statement

I'm a player and a student of the game.  As a teammate I value leadership, attitude, effort and positive support.  In my senior season at each level, I have been a top player who bats in the 2-4 hole - a contact hitter, who drives in runs and manages pitch selection effectively.  As a utility type player, I can play all areas of the infield including pitcher, but have recently focussed on my outfield game given my commitment to increasing my speed and footwork.  I love the game and see myself playing at a high level in college and potentially beyond.  My strengths off the field include my academic focus, ability to independently learn, and complete assigned tasks to expectation.  In addition, I am very dedicated to making mature and healthy choices, with an understanding of responsible social media management and personal integrity.  While I play to be the best, this mentality will never take away from the team, the support of my coach/players and representing the association with respect.  Finally, what sets me apart is my approach at the plate and my IQ in game.  I trust my hands, my head and my heart.

  • Carson Boyko is a 2023 OF/RHP, 3B, SS with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from Spruce Grove, AB who attends St Peter The Apostle High School. Flashed a medium frame with a lean, young build. Plenty of room to fill out down the road. Ran a 7.62 second sixty yard dash. Primary Outfielder sitting back on the baseball before showing a clean route to the baseball. Showcased good feel for mechanics and footwork. Arm accurate around the bags releasing from a high three-quarter slot. Secondary Righthanded pitcher utilizing his lower half well driving down the mound. Releases from a similar three-quarter arm slot. Attacks the zone early and stayed down as well. Fastball was up to 70 MPH with arm side run sink. His off-speed arsenal consisted of a slider that showed some depth at times and a changeup that flashed signs of advanced feel showing late fade. Secondary Infielder fielding the baseball deep in his stance. Range showing to the glove side. Works into a shuffle before releasing the baseball from an uphill angle. Left handed hitter starting from a balanced stance then works into a short leg lift and stride. Hands drop slightly during separation before working into a linear swing path. Throws hands at the baseball looking to pull it. Outstanding student

  • 2019 14U SOUTH SHOWCASE
  • 2/23/19 to 2/24/19
  • Carson Boyko is a 2023 SS/RHP, 2B, OF with a 5-7 120 lb. frame from Spruce Grove, AB who attends St Francis Xavier High School. Young, square shouldered frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill throughout. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front withe some bent at waist, takes longer strides moving up the middle, similar release on all throws, accurate throws to first base with arm strength that will continue to develop. Takes shorts tops moving towards the ball from the outfield, fields it out front and shows a quick transfer out of the glove, upper body dominant release with an extended slot, can continue to implement additional lower half into mechanics. Also pitched, deliberate tempo to delivery following leg lift; shorter arm stroke through the back getting to a high three-quarters release with extension out front. Fastball topped out at 64 mph, worked to either side of the plate and filled the zone while pitching to contact. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; lowers hands at start of swing with a full path coming through. Upper body dominant mechanics, best when working on a linear plane and shows looseness to hands. Comfort working to the middle and pull side parts of the field, employs a contact oriented approach, projects with additional strength. Very good student.
