I’ve lived all over the world, but the one constant in my life has always been my passion for baseball. I first started playing the sport I love in Cairo, Egypt as a tee-ball player. When I was five, my family and I moved to New Delhi, India where my infatuation for the game continued to grow. Although the resources were scarce, I still continued to play and love the game. At age ten the hardest moment of my life came; my family moved again, this time to a small town in Western Canada called Lloydminster.
After moving to Canada my development started to take off. With more available coaching, training, and equipment I progressed through the ranks. In my U13 year came my first big achievement, my team and I won our provincial championship, qualifying our team for the Western Canadian Championships. While at Western Canadians our team battled to a second-place finish.
This past season was one of the most influential years of my life as I had to battle a thumb injury that took me away from the game I love. In addition to my thumb injury, my team also struggled. However, in the last month of the season, we started to make strides in our play. By the end of the year, we had improved so much that our team earned another Western Canadian silver medal. This past year was not only hard because of my thumb injury; it was hard because of the mental struggles that I had to overcome. These obstacles have taught me about positivity and support, to always give your best effort and to support your teammates in any way that you can.
