Kelvin Martinez '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Kelvin Martinez. A detail that can easily describe who I am is when recently my team and I lost in the first round of playoffs. It irks my soul to this day. I feel that I have grown from that by not letting one loss define who I am and that everyone's losses in life. It's part of life. But it's the way you bounce back....are you going to sit at home all day thinking about that loss mad? or are you going to get up and go get better every day. I know it might be said pretty often but there's is always someone working when your sleep or in bed. I became interested in my sport when I was a kid such as 3 years old, and I became interested in my sport because of my father. Growing up I always watched him play baseball and always watched it on tv so that is what made me so interested in the sport of baseball. What I have learned through playing my sport was that nothing is ever handed to you. I also learned that no matter what size you are anything is possible. And there is no such thing as being perfect or knowing everything about the game of baseball on and off the field. I also learned that there are many different ways of teaching and that you should be open-minded about those teachings.

My academic goals for high school are to pass all my classes every single year of high school. I would like to participate in a lot of school events and help around my school and participate in class. I would like to graduate high school and get my diploma. My academic goals for college are to attend all my classes and get all my work done no matter what it takes.  I would like to get my degree and complete my full years of college. An obstacle that I had maneuver to get where I am today is coming from and single-parent household. Some unique characteristics and skills I say that I have are that I am very open-minded. I am willing to learn and adjust to anything that is thrown at me. I am ambitious and driven to achieve my goals every single day I wake up. I am on top of everything that is assigned or given to me.
