- 6-foot-1, 185-pound. Projectable raw during batting practice, Malanga had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. (65.3 mph bat speed average). (18.9 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a high rhythmic load, then uses a long stride. Bat speed was above average, displayed a loose level swing plane and high finish. He barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Raw in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 77 mph; had a twitchy exchange, quick fluid footwork, and consistent hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Using a short quick arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the base from a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.25. Projectable on the mound, had a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle with good arm speed. Tall-and-fall up-tempo type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed strong balance point with in line shoulders. Lands square. Threw his fastball 69-74 mph; has arm side command and sinking action. (Max spin 1796; Avg 1667). Showed down in the zone control and slurvey action on his curveball (54-58).(Max spin 1800; Avg 1583). His changeup (61-62) showed arm side command and fading action. Exit Velocity: 87 mph Arm Velocity: 77 mph Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.25
