Joseph Kirkland
My long-term aspirations: I would like to one-day play in the MLB, or to become a Computer Information Systems Technologist. Baseball is my true passion; however, I enjoy working with computers and learning more about their functions. With the growing world of technology, my desire is to one day become successful in working as a computer technologist in either the industrial or chemical field.
My collegiate goals: I am interested in a school that will challenge me both mentally and physically, and one that will allow me to be involved in community services and outreaches.
I am also interested in attending a school with a competitive athletic program. I am currently competing at a high school that is highly competitive in baseball. I have always had a deep love for the sport of baseball, and hope to one day is able to compete at a professional level.
What makes you a good candidate for their team?
I am a good candidate for a collegiate team because I bring unity and service to my current team, encourages my teammates to put forth their best, and help mentor the younger players. I believe that I can also bring this to a collegiate team. I play two positions; primary position being a right-handed pitcher, and 1st base as my secondary position, along with being a batter.
What makes you different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics?
I believe that being part of a sports team should be about a whole team effort and unity with the players. I believe that this is number one in being successful in having a winning season. Our team recently won District for a 2nd year in a row, and also set a record for the most wins in a single season. At the end of this season, we went on to compete for the Louisiana State Championship 1A title. Academically, I am a hard worker and strive to do my very best. I know that academics are most important in becoming successful in my future profession.
