Personal Statement

Every coach is looking for great players to fill their rosters.  I am not only the player you are looking for,  but I am also the teammate the other players enjoy playing with. I will be the player that you remember because I will shake your hand with conviction and thank you for your time because I am excited to learn how to become a better player and young man.  Academically I am self motivated and I believe that this is crucial for any collegiate athlete because the schedule is so demanding.   I also know that staying healthy is so important.  I follow a strict arm care and weightlifting program from Cressey Sports Performance.

  • Kurtis is a RHP/SS who is very very coachable. He is a hard worker who plays the game the right way. On the mound, Kurtis works to a controlled balance point and has smooth separation. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. He commands his FB well working it in and out - now topping out at 63 mph. It has slight sink which will cause a lot of GB outs. He varies his looks with runners on - pausing and keeping them off balance and close to the bag. Driving more of his lower 1/2 downhill will help to get more into his FB. At SS, Kurtis hustles into a square fielding position and gathers well. He works through the ball and stays in-line toward his target. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to increase lateral range. Offensively, Kurtis shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He barrels the ball up consistently and drives the middle of the field (going 4 for 5 with 3 singles and a triple at the event). Kurtis has skills with a ton of upside as he continues to mature.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend
  • 8/30/14 to 8/31/14
  • Kurtis is a good, young hitter, who shows potential as a ballplayer. He shows a fundamentally solid swing with the ability to use his entire body during the swing. Kurtis generates power utilizing his lower 1/2 well giving him the ability to hit the baseball hard to all fields. Kurtis needs to continue to work on his stride foot, and letting it land square and not open to first base. As Kurtis continues to mature and get bigger and stronger; his swing will do nothing but improve.
