I have been passionate about baseball from a very early age, and it has long been my goal to play college baseball, and perhaps beyond. I always strive to be a highly coachable, team player. I have learned so much from so many of my coaches over the years and I credit them for making me the player I am today. I have an extremely high work ethic, both athletically and academically. I never let anyone out-work me on the field, and I take my academics very seriously. I always make the honor roll in school, and often make high honors/ honors with distinction. I have received academic awards as well as school-wide character and leadership awards, and I have also been nominated to attend a student leadership conference in Washington, D.C. Although I am currently undecided as to what my future area of study will be, I am interested in criminal justice, science, and business studies. Whatever area I end up focusing on, I want to ensure that I attend a school that really focuses on the success of their students.
I have typically been one of the smaller players on my baseball teams. Because of this, I have always focused on studying and practicing proper technique and using my athleticism to make up for any possible short-comings. I studied martial arts from age 5 to 12, earning my brown belt. This helped give me a solid foundation of understanding body mechanics and how to maximize my strength, speed, and power. Today, I have grown substantially and have made very large strength gains through lifting weights and resistance training. This past year, while playing on my 13U team during my first year on the big diamond, I even surprised myself by hitting 2 home runs in one game. I honestly didn't expect to hit a homerun last season being on the much larger field, but I credit my focus on proper technique and strength training for enabling me to be able to accomplish this.
Although I am just starting my high school career, my entire focus is on my future, attending a great school with a great baseball program, and proving to the coaches everyday why they selected me for their team in the first place.
