My name is Drew Patel and I a third baseman from Piscataway, New Jersey. I started my freshman and jv years as a shortstop but started third base as a junior on varsity. I have also pitched in some games, followed by playing first in those games. I have also batted over .350 my freshman and jv years hitting with power in the 3, 4, and 5 spots, but my varsity year i hit for contact, batting around .280 in the 2 and 6 spots.
Along with high school baseball, I played recreational ball for Piscataway. Out of the 6 teams in this recreational league, the best were selected to play on a travel team in many tournaments. I played on this team and played in tournaments in Somerset, Jersey City, and Mount Olive. My high school has also recently started a team that plays travel in the summer. With all these different teams, I have become a better team player and leader. Being only one of the 2 seniors returning to varsity this year, I will have to lead and set an example for the incoming underclassmen.
My baseball accomplishments include being selected for the All-Star team every year since I started little league 8 years ago and starting all 3 of my years on the high school team. However, I strive academically as well as athletically. I have maintained a 3.9 GPA throughout 3 years of high school and hope to do even better in my last year.
I want to major in biomedical or biochemical engineering. I hope to attend a college that is heavy in science majors and also fit my baseball requirements. I want to equally have academics and baseball in my college life.
Throughout my baseball career, I have had coaches guide me and teach me not only techniques in baseball, but characteristics needed in life. I have become more organized, confident, out-going and disciplined. I have been a leader on most teams I've played on so I can get along with coaches and players. I am willing to do what's necessary to get the job done. And I hope I can bring all that I can to your team.
