Spencer McDonell '19 Recruiting Profile

    My passion for baseball started when I was four years old, living in Allen, Texas after recently moving from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Once I started, I couldn't stop; that is how I've been my entire life from that day and onwards. I love baseball because I love the personal excellence that can come with hard work, but as well as that chance to be teammates with dozens of kids my age and build friendships that will last a lifetime. In my elementary days, I was always the new kid at school. In the span of ten years I was at five different schools, four baseball programs, three different states/provinces and two countries. I have learned to be very adaptable and coachable in different schemes and situations throughout my career so far. I may have been the new kid but I find that making friends is easy, you just have to give value to others and they will give value back to you.

In terms of schooling, I want to graduate with honours and stay as close to a 4.0 GPA as I possibly can and take the right combination of courses so that I can chase my desired major in Business. I want to do business because it gives me options for a career outside of baseball.

Every single day, I carry around a notebook that has all of my motivational quotes and tips from respected coaches and public speakers. There are many quotes that I live by in my book; one that I cherish the most is "Be the best you can be; set the example" - Sunjay Nath. I believe that I have the capabilities to be a leader on your team and also be accomplished in the classroom as well as be the best teammate I could possibly be.
