Personal Statement
I started playing baseball when I was 5 years old in a small town t-ball league and have continued to play since then. My true love of the game came when I started playing on a summer travel ball team at age 9. It was also the time I was introduced to catching and have never looked back. My Mom was a catcher her whole high school career as well. 2 years ago I began playing with an elite travel ball team (JBA Clutch) and then I really knew baseball was my sport. My freshman year, I was given the honor of the varsity starting starting catcher and it was a fantastic experience. It taught me how to be a leader on the field and I learned so many things from both my coaches and the upperclassmen. That year showed me how to become a smarter and more fundamentally sound baseball player. Academically I try to do my best and have taken multiple honors courses thus far. Playing competitive sports essentially year around (I also play football in fall and basketball in winter), in addition to a competitive academic course load, has taught me how to prioritize and utilize my time effectively. I believe this has not only made me a better player, but an all around better person.
My club season includes playing tournaments all over the mid-west region. My club team tries to face the best competition possible in our area for maximum exposure/competition. We try to play with the motto, "Stand tall, talk small, play ball." I try to take this attitude to wherever I play and I hope to bring that to the next level of baseball wherever that may be. Thank you.
