My name is Traciona Ta’Sha Hampton- 4.0 graduate student from Lincoln Preparatory School in Grambling, La.
I am seeking to becoming a Nurse. ( Nurse Practitioner). I’m a part of the National Honors Association, ranking number 3 in my school’s graduating class. I was a part of the dual-enrollment program and I have received credits to transfer as I enter college. I’ve earned a degree from Southern University Shreveport, on May 10, 2024 in General Studies, as I recently graduated High school from Lincoln Preparatory High school-Grambling, on May 14, 2024. I am very athletic-I enjoy sports such as basketball, cheer and dance. I have many years of experiences as team Leaders such as Jaquar Captain- Dance Group Southern Belles El Dorado, AR. Point Guard -Basketball and Cheer Captain @ Lincoln Prep. During my cheer camp association, I’ve received and Won “All American” Cheerleading.
All my life I’ve been told time after time that the only way I’m going to be successful and happy in life is if I go to college and get a degree. After growing up and seeing how the world works and all the opportunities it holds, I’ve realized my vision for an education is to achieve a college degree to so that I may have a career and not just a job. I am destined to be a great leader and provide great leadership. Attending a Black University is one of my vision goals as well. Most of the American institutions of higher education served predominantly white students, and disqualified or limited black American enrollment.
Almost all colleges and universities in the Southern United States prohibited all African Americans from attending due to slavery- Civil Rights Movement. HBCU’s were established to provide more opportunities to African Americans like myself and are largely responsible for establishing and expanding the African-American middle class.
There are many people that are happy and achieve many things with a degree. After seeing the things, I can do with a college degree I now know it’s really meant for me.
Pursuing a college degree is important to me. In addition, it is important for me to plan for my future in the event that I may need to support my family financially. Several important people in my life are an inspiration to me by their example in furthering their own education as older adults. Attending college (https://www.cram.com/subjects/college) is a very important part of my life. The number one reason that I attend college is I desire to keep my brain sharp as I get older. I feel I will obtain this goal by participating in hobbies that require daily brain action.
My future consists of attending Texas Southern University (TSU), and experience what college is like while receiving my bachelor's as well as master's degree in the Healthcare/Nursing fields. Part of the reason why I pushed myself to go into college was because it’s a known fact that getting a well-paid job without a college degree is rare. Minimum wage can barely help one survive. I want to be sure that I have enough education to be able to obtain a descent paying job if the need arises.
Many things in life can be taken from you, but one thing you have total control over is yours. I plan to do play the role of being a role model to my generation and younger family members such as my nieces and nephews. This world today is corrupted with evil and lazy spirits. I want to take care of our future, children and elders.. I am patient and kind, I am a People”s person. I love to help and most importantly I enjoy doing those things. I am not selfish at all as a matter fact, I am selfless. Another role I wish to play as a part of young lives would be staying fit and healthy. I would get together a group started to do yoga/exercise classes and groups. We would go out on outings together, have game days- family and fun days etc. Communicate with one another (talk, listen, guide) as the role of a big sister or even mother figure in one’s life.
