August Schmidt '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is August (Augie) Schmidt and I graduated from Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland Florida.
I played left guard (where I was also a starter my Junior year) and I switched to tackle and right guard as needed. Our offensive line was a key part of Lake Gibson's District Championship and Final 8 Playoff finish. The team totaled over 3500 rushing yards during that 2010-2011 year.

I am 6'3" and 300 lbs, my best 40 is 5.1. My bench press max is 385 lbs, squat max is 525 lbs, hang clean 300.   High School GPA was 2.80 (after a bad start freshman year 1.9!), and my ACT is 19, super score 78. In 2011 I was invited to and participated in the IMG Madden Academy in Bradenton, FL. I was a First Team Selection on the All Heartland Team (Polk-Pasco-Highland Counties FL) in Friday Night Football Florida, 2011 edition. I was noted as a Top Twenty Offensive  Lineman - Florida – on Larry Bluestein’s list there as well. I also appeared on Tom Lemming’s Guards and Centers Top Recruits list at MaxPreps.com. I have received academic and athletic scholarship offers from West Liberty University (WV) and Warner University (FL). I currently (2/14/13) still have four years of eligibility.

I have a very agressive attitude on the field and a strong work ethic both in practice and in non-practice workouts. I believe I was considered a team leader by my teammates and the coaching staff (these are represented in earning the "Coaches Award" for the 2011 season.)
