I love to compete. I love being part of a team.
Grosse Ile’s rebound has been one of the biggest storylines this fall in the Downriver area. The secret, according to Bodner and Thompson: hard work, seasoning and bonding.
“We were a pretty young team last year and we were coming off a really good season (in 2016). I think we kind of took some things for granted,” Bodner said. “This team hasn’t; they worked hard in the offseason and they’ve put themselves in position to win games. That’s what you need to do, that’s what you need to do.”
“This year, we’re a lot closer as a group,” Thompson added. “We did stuff over the summer, we threw routes to each other, just hung out. We bonded really well. We always know we have each other’s backs. If someone messes up, we know they’re going to bounce back and have our backs.”
