John Owens '25 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to play football at the collegiate level and to use my talent to assist furthering my education.  I am interested in a career in History, as the likelihood of pursuing a career in football past college is a small percentage.  My ultimate goal is to pursue a bachelor's and possible masters to become an educator and coach.  What I lack in physical attributes is ability to dissect the game and see it faster than most. I have worked extremely hard during off-seasons to further my technical and mental side of football.  Being considered undersized throughout youth and middle school career, I knew I would have to outwork the “perfect specimen” player.  My academic profile will assist in getting me into a better academic program that may also provide me an opportunity to play football as well.  My character is attested to my father and my trainers/mentors for football, they have all taught me to do the right thing and choose the company I keep as this is a direct reflection of who you are as well.  An opportunity is all that is needed to prove that I have that little bit of "dog" in me that coaches love to see.  Hope to see all you coaches on your campus soon enough!!
