Walter "Ray" Allen III '23 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to follow in my father's foot steps and make lifelong memories by attending a university that I love while contributing to a historic D1 basketball program. I have a lot of passions; art, music, anime, fashion and the entrepreneurial spirit; but, basketball is my first LOVE. I've been playing basketball since before I could walk or talk. I know a lot of people say that they were born with a basketball in their hand...but, my Mom tells a story of how I could literally add by two's when I was only 10 months old, because of all the shots I took in our makeshift court she set up for me in our kitchen in Seattle when my Dad played for the Supersonics. I know it's inevitable that anyone who sees me on a court, watches a highlight reel or comes across me on social media will automatically compare me to my father. He's the greatest shooter in NBA history and one of the greatest college players to ever come out of the Big East. His are huge shoes to fill. Thankfully, my Mom and Dad have always encouraged me to play my on game and to be my own person- even with ALLEN on the back of my jersey. I'm a different player than my Dad. I'm working every day to develop and perfect my craft and my goal every time I step on the court is to see the floor, to play as strong off the ball as I do on the ball, to be a leader, to help my teammates get better and to do whatever it takes for our team to succeed. If there's a similarity I hope people do recognize when they see me play is my work ethic. I've never been afraid of hard work, filling in at any position (I've played them all) or working tirelessly in the face of a challenge. I know I can contribute everything I have to a D1 program...I can't wait to get started!
