~~My name is Justin “JB” Kam. I am a junior (class of 2015) at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am 6’3” inches tall and weigh 185 lbs.
Although I think my position in college would be a two guard, I am currently playing power forward (4) on my high school team because that is what we need. I led the team in scoring this season with an average of 13.3 points per game. I also led the team with 57 made three point shots (average 40%) and blocks with 1.3 per game.
We played in the Under Armour Holiday Classic this past December 2013 and I was named Most Valuable Player in the Governors division and we won the championship. I was averaging 15 points per game and had 17 points in the championship game.
I possess all the intangibles like unselfishness and I play for my teammates. I think I could have scored a lot more points and had a higher scoring average but I wanted to get my teammates involved. I also have a solid work ethic. Every summer for the past two years I have trained with weights at different training facilities. I also play in many summer leagues both in Hawaii and California. I attended the Maui Sports Academy Exposure Camp in Honolulu this past summer 2013 where there were some of the top players in Hawaii with 3 or 4 college coaches in attendance. I was named co-camper of the week which is given to not only the top player but also the one that shows leadership, a great work ethic, self-discipline, and a high level of character.
My college goals are to attend a school that offers me both high academic excellence as well as a competitive basketball program. My current high school, Punahou is one of the top prep schools in the US as well as being voted one of the top high school athletic programs in the US by Sports Illustrated. I believe that because my high school is a college prep school that the transition to college academics will not be a difficult one. I am a late bloomer so I feel that by the time I enter college in 2015 I will be much stronger, a little taller and would have grown into my body. My goals for playing basketball is to contribute whatever way I can to help the team win especially by shooting a high percentage of 3’s and hopefully get to experience and play in “March Madness”. I am confident that I can excel on the court and the classroom. I also can promise you that I will be a good teammate.
~~My motto is : BE AGRRESIVE, BE CONFIDENT AND ALWAYS COMPETE! Aloha, JB
