When asked at a very young age “what do you want to be when you grow up” basketball player was always my answer. As I have played more and more, I have realized not only do I love the game, but I have many goals I want to accomplish.
My Papa, Gary Walker (Grandfather), graduating in 1969 (class B), was inducted into his high-school Hall of Fame in 2019 for scoring the most points/game 24.7. (This was before 3 pointers). He still holds the record to this day. My first goal is to beat my Papa’s record and carry on the Walker name.
My next goal is to play basketball at a collegiate level while gaining an education, setting me up for success in my future. The goals after that are limitless.
I put a lot of heart and sweat into this sport. Whether it’s a practice, game or shoot around with the boys, I will treat it like there’s 1:30 left in the championship game. My hard work shows on and off the court and I think my coaches would agree. I’m a great son, grandson, teammate, player, student and friend. I also enjoy playing football, baseball and golf.
I know my basketball story is just beginning, but I can’t wait to see where life takes me in the next few years. Thank you for your time and interest in me.
Success is when hard work meets opportunity, so do your best and stay the course. My time will come!
