Logan Alvey '24 Recruiting Profile

My parents tell me I was born with a basketball and football in my hand.  Coming from a family centered around playing sports at some of the highest levels, seeing what success can be through hard work and overcoming adversity, it was easy at a young age to find a love of sports and team.   A big motivator and driver for me was seeing the success my uncles had in playing football in high school, then college, and then one uncle going on to play in the NFL.  I saw first-hand what hard work can create.  An opportunity.   Since playing basketball from the first grade, I found a place where I can use my passion to develop myself both on and off the court while falling in love with the game.  While I may not check the box on every physical profile indicator, what I do bring is a High Basketball IQ, Being Coachable, Character, Discipline both on the court and in the classroom, and a Team First approach. Basketball has given me a forum to grow as an individual while facing adversity in developing as a player and working with teammates to improve as a team to create success.   Basketball has provided me opportunities to discover who I am and what I am capable of by developing a relentless work ethic and commitment to improve myself that will no doubt help in life after sports.  In looking to play at the collegiate level I want to use basketball as tool and process to help me reach my full potential while continuing to be on the court where I find some of my happiest moments.  My parents use a saying that “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”  I have used this as motivation while developing into a talented and high IQ basketball player. I look forward to my journey exploring what basketball can mean at the collegiate level and pushing myself to grow as a student, player, teammate, and overall person.
