My name is Ben May and I am currently a Senior at China Spring High School in China Spring, TX. Academically, I am a straight A student and I am currently ranked #4 in my class. I am currently on the "Distinguished" track for graduation in 2015. Additionally, I am a member of the National Honor Society. Also, I recently received the Army National Reserve Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for being the highest rank student athlete in my class.
For the 2012-13 basketball season, I earned a spot on the varsity team as a Sophomore. There were only two Sophomores that made varsity. I played primarily at the 2 and 3 spots, averaging about 8 minutes per game and 5 points per game. I also averaged 5 rebounds/game and 1 assists/game.
As a Junior during the most recent 2013-14 season, I averaged almost 17 minutes per game, normally being the first person off the bench. I played primarily at the 4 position, but also saw some action at the 3 and 5 spots. I was fourth on the team in PPG. My field goal % of 52 was second best on the team and my 46% on three pointers led the team. I also averaged 1 block, 1 steal, 1 assist and 3 rebounds per game.
My club experience has been playing on the Waco Hoop Station team coached by Kevin Henry. We played a heavy tournament schedule the past two summers. This past summer, I led my team in the following per game categories: Assists, Steals, Rebounds and Blocks. I also just finished a four tournament stint with a local AAU team called the Texas Chargers.
My Senior season just ended with the team going 16-13 overall and making the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. I served as co-captain of the team for the entire season. My stats were as follows: 7 PPG, 2 APG, 5 RPG and 2 BPG. My 54 season blocks broke the school record for blocks in a season. Also, my 84 career blocks is now the most in our school's history. I take pride in focusing on my defensive play as much as my offense.
I have attended three scouting events including two hosted by Scouts Focus and one hosted by Maximum Exposure.
My goal is to graduate with honors in 2015 and then attend a school that will provide me an opportunity to play basketball. I am open to Divisions I, II, III or NAIA. I plan to major in sports medicine or education.
A school that recruits me will be getting a player is devoted to basketball and the classroom. I have a proven history of doing well in both.
